The staff here at Borderlands Forums, expect the following rules to be followed at all times:

1. We will not tolerate SPAM. Click here to read what will be considered spam.

2. No offensive material or vulgarity.
This includes any demeaning or offensive posts, pictures or reference to pictures of sexual acts.

3. Attacking/Flaming/Trolling other users will not be tolerated. This includes:
-posting threads designed to antagonize or offend other users and any other such actions subject to Administrator/Moderator discretion.
-Sending users harassing private messages and flaming or antagonizing content in signatures.

4. Linking to illegal software, also known as warez, is not tolerated. Posts containing such links will immediately be removed and action against the member will be taken.

5. No advertising of websites in posts, private messages, or visitor messages! You can add the website to your profile or signature.

6. We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.

7. These rules are subject to change at any time. We will notify you if/when we update the current rules.

The following steps will be taken if you do not comply with these rules:
Note, that any accounts made purposely for the intention of spamming or trolling, will be IP banned or placed on B.O.S. status immediately.

Verbal Warning
- You will receive a verbal warning in the form of a private message, for breaking any of the rules for the first time.

Warning
- You will receive a warning for excessive rule-breaking, or as the Staff sees fit.

Member Watch
- If a member receives more than three warnings, he/she will be put under "watch status".
If any members under "watch status" break the rules, then they will be banned temporarily.

Forum Access Removal (FAR)
- If you continue to spam a certain section, than you may have your permissions to access that category, removed.

Temporary Ban - Your account will be temporarily banned, if you get more than four warnings. The Administrators and Super Moderators may also ban as they deem fit.

Permanent Ban - If you have a negative impact on the community, than the Staff here at Borderlands Forums reserves the right to permanently ban your account. It will also happen to the troll and spammer accounts.

Ban On Sight (BOS) Status
- After a permanently banned member creates two or more new accounts with the intention of causing trouble, they will be banned on sight.

IP Ban - Members that are on a static IP address can be completely banned from registering by having their IP address logged and stored on a list of IP addresses that are not permitted to register accounts. Members on dynamic or proxy IP addresses cannot be IP banned, they are placed on Ban On Sight status as an alternative.

ISP Notification - Anyone that is a constant problem can be reported to their Internet Service Provider for violating the Terms of Service for this Web site. This can result in the Internet Service Provider canceling the members' Internet Service.

SPAM stands for Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages.
The following will be considered SPAM:

* Off-Topic Posts – Any post that is either irrelevant to the topic of discussion, or forum is classified as SPAM.
* Capitals – Excessive usage of caps, is considered spam.
* Intentional Post Count Raising – Posting comments just to raise your post count is considered as SPAM. A common instance of this is replying to questions that have already been answered and repeating the answer, or just posting nonsense that has absolutely nothing to do with that forum or discussion at hand.
* Multiple threads and Double Posting – Posting multiple threads about the same topic or posting two times in a row in the same topic will be considered SPAM.
* Replies – Any replies that have only three words or under are classified as SPAM, unless you are in the Forum Games section.
* Personal Member-To-Member Threads – If you post a thread directed at a specific member, it may be classified as SPAM. Please use the Private Messaging function to contact members privately about personal matters, or discussions.
* Legibility – Posts should be written in a legible manner. Unreadable posts due to lack of punctuation, use of “l33t sp33k”, spelling, or other things mentioned in other rules are considered SPAM.
* Advertisements – Anything advertising another unrelated website will be marked as SPAM.
