I think that pearlescent weapons are very, very hard to find. I only have one that my friend duped me. This can also give other people a chance to hear each other out. I've been farming Crawmarax who supposedly has a higher drop rate for pearlescent weapons. (Side note: According to user Crockeo, the drop rate is higher when you complete every mission in the armory). I'm not voting yet until I have found at least 2 pearls. So, vote and discuss.

I've found a few pearlescent items, 6 in the armoury, two in Circle Of Duty, and one with Crawmerax. I rarely bother with Crawmerax any more as I generally find better gear in the armoury.

OK, here's the deal guys.........

There is no "BEST" spot to get Pearls.........

Your drop chance is what determines Pearl drops. Any location that provides multiple item drops raises your chance of finding a Pearl. The armory because there are hundreds of items, Crawermax because it drops about 75 items every time, etc.

The bottom line is, use the location you like best. The location that drops multiple items that is. I personally use Crawmerax. I have killed him at least 50 times, if not more. I have a huge collection of Pearls.

Craw. Between the amount of drops and time it takes to kill him, highest chances of getting a pearl. Killing Craw in about....3-4 minutes and 75 weapons each at least.

Getting to the armory, past Knoxx, etc. takes more time before even including the time it takes to loot all of the chests. Afterwards...have to do it all again. At the end of it, item output would be higher from Craw.

I would actually vote Circle of Duty as second best...got two or three pearls from it. Killing a ton of lances and fast makes for a great item output.

Oh, and @Zolarius, supposedly Craw does have a better drop rate for pearls...but if not, there still can be such a thing as "best" since the time and item output ratio can be compared.

Yeah, I didn't expect it to be worth while either...but managed to get a few pearls from it without even trying. I do think that them being 53 hurts the quality of the pearls...but then as far as I could tell the pearls were still better than most good oranges...so not a total waste. Still, Craw > Circle of Duty.

The armoury may take longer to get there, but then there's all the drops from the lance troops on the way, weapon proficiencies being increased from all the killing, and the loot at the end too. With a siren or hunter, the Roads End / armoury is done fairly quick. The armoury works better for me, I've had more luck in considerably fewer runs than with Crawmerax. I killed Crawmerax 6 times today with a mate, not a single pearl, and not a single item picked up for use between us.

Personally Craw runs better for me since I can kill him faaaaaaast as a hunter. The minions and Craw himself providing the best experience in the game and all too. Drops from lances can be great if you get lucky, but not enough I'd ever be willing to bet on. One in a million shot of them dropping a pearl. Though, of coruse, I can easily see why some people would rather go for the Armory.

The only problem i can see with the Armory is that the levels of the weapons you find may not be as high as ones that would drop from Craw, which diminishes the quality a little bit dont you think?

I'm rethinking circle of duty because the enemies are lvl 60-61 if you complete the armory.

That's as maybe, but it doesn't matter when you're level 61 and massacring everything while using purple rarity weapons that are about level 50.


To date, the best item I've picked up to use from Crawmerax was an Ogre, the first one I've seen.

I rarely find what I'm looking for from the armory, but I normally find something. My first pearl actually came from a chest on your way to the armory, the Crimson one at roads end just before you get into the armory.

I farm craw but I also like to search the ROADS END because I found three pearls there, 1 was in a lance chest and the others were off badass engineers at the end of the run just before you enter the armory . P.S I had all quest done (Everything was beat) when I found them before that no pearlescents.
